My Dad got a brand new defective truck(very obvious body defect)
Well folks my Dad has traded in his 2017 F150 Stx 2.7 scab for a 2018 5.0 screw 3 days ago. 2 days later, he has noticed that where the bumper meets the fender on the driver side, it has a crinkle like they over tightened or forced to fit while it was at the plant. Its the second truck he has bought at that dealership. I don't know how it was missed on the PDI inspection. Its like they signed off on it and sent it out the door. My dad is not happy about it and he does not want another fender because it will be repainted and the paint will not match properly. He feels that a brand new truck should not have a body panel repainted/repaired. They should've never sold that truck. Oh yea I forgot that truck was a dealer trade so they got it for him.
I know that dealership is going to offer to fix and repaint it and he is going to refuse it. That shouldn't be on a brand new truck. It should've never left the plant like that. Its not like he bought a used/certified truck. This is a brand new truck. It's not like he waited a week to tell them. The dealership is 2 hrs away from where he lives. I hope that they dont give him the runaround. What are your thoughts?? Do you think they will put him in another truck? Thanks in advance.

Ehhh, take the renew panel and paint. Wife just got a brand new Explorer and she noticed a bubble in the paint on the hood a few days afterwards, dealer repainted and looks good as new. No big deal. Obviously people make mistakes and miss things. He did when he bought it right? To expect a brand new truck when a new panel will fix the problem seems silly to me, but then a lot does.

They should easily get the paint to match. It isn’t rocket surgery.
If they paint and it doesn’t match get them to keep painting until it does.
Just get it fixed and move on.

If he doesn't like it, he shouldn't have accepted the vehicle in the first place.

paint it, the new will wear off in a few months and nothing more will be thought of it. More than likely will not notice a repaint.
Remember on past Corvettes ordered, seems like always some paint issue. They will fix it, not replace it

My dad took my mom's late 80's Escort to a Ford dealer when it was four years old to repaint the sides due to wear and tear. He took it back twice to get the shade correct, then a third time because the blending was sub-par. Warranty or not, you are paying for the vehicle to be made right, make them make it right.
