Multiple electrical errors
Hello everyone. I'm experiencing an intermittent failure of several of the features on the truck, and was hoping someone here might be able to help me narrow it down.
It is a 2018 F-150 Supercrew Lariat, with about 5,000 miles on it.
The systems that are intermittently faulting, all at the same time, are:
- "Service Advancetrac System" error notice, with the yellow dash light being lit.
- "Hill start assist not available" error notice
- "Pre-collision avoidance not available" error notice
- The adaptive cruise control turns off, and will not restart
- The drive mode button reports "Drive modes unavailable"
- The lane keeping assist shuts down
- The 360 degree parking camera and backing aids just show an exclamation point instead of a picture.
This has happened twice in the last three days, while I was on a 3,000 mile road trip towing a trailer. While driving along I get the error notices and the cruise control dis-engages. This list represents the things that I have noticed that quit, there may be more that I didn't find. I've stopped and restarted the engine several times, didn't make any difference. In both cases, after driving 80 to 100 miles, the yellow Advancetrac light goes out and everything starts working again.
I plan to take it to the dealer, but since the problem is so intermittent I'm afraid they'll just tell me they can't find anything. I'm hoping that someone here has already had this problem solved on their truck.
Thanks!

In short, at least one of the computer modules in your truck has failed. I would get it into the dealer and have them sort out whether the failure is due to a wiring issue, sensor issue or a module itself has failed with cascading issues down the line in other systems. The good news is that you have a warranty and the dealer should know how to fix this.
Update:
I took the truck in. They kept it for a week, spoke with Ford, shrugged their shoulders and said come take it home. I guess the plan is to wait for it to break even more before they try to replace anything,
I'm very sad. My $65k truck, with 5k miles on it, doesn't work right and they don't seem very concerned about it. I suggested that we try to replace some of the sensors or modules referred to in the error codes, and they said no, they're working fine right now. They were implying that the malfunction had something to do with the way I was driving the vehicle?! When I told them I was towing a trailer with it, they went "Ohhh, that makes a difference."
Grrrr.
