Default Muffler Tip Install

Wondering if anyone could help? I have a 2019 XLT ecoboost, measured the exhaust at 3in and the exhaust tip I purchased was for the 3 in exhaust. Already removed the old muffler tip off but cannot fit the newly purchased one to save my life. Anyone have any advice/tips/tricks to get the new one installed. The new one just barely doesn't fit on there.

Thanks in advance for any help

If its a clamp on maybe you can spread it open a bit. Use some oil to get it to slip on better. File the edge of the exhaust pipe all the way around to chamfer it a bit to get the tip started on.

Post pics of the tip, might give us a better idea what you're dealing with.

Good luck

If it`s too small, get one of these:

Or just stop by a muffler shop & pay them a few bucks to expand it for you.

I was able to expand it a little bit and slide it up a good bit but it just ended up getting stuck again. I caved and just took it to a shop they had the tools and expanded and slapped it on for $30. Thanks for the input everyone.
