No worries. You are just suffering from a case of Build and Price syndrome

HI all, I just picked up a 2014 FX4 CC. It didn't come with mud flaps. I am wondering if anyone here would say, you must have mud flaps. I am on the fence. The ones that I want are FX4 and cost 600$ installed at the dealership.

I am worried that if I don't get them, then I might end up over time having the sides of my truck chipped. Any thoughts on this?

The FX4 came with 20 inch Scorpions.

If I buy online, can a lay person install them?

Hi honeyman 76 first off this is a 2015 site, but anyways I really think it's a personal preference I don't have them on my 07 but for my future 15 I'm thinking I'm gonna get them only because the truck I plan on ordering will have the power running boards. Thinking they'll keep some of the road crud from beating on them to bad. As for paying I'm sure you can find someone but from what I hear there pretty easy to install you might wanna try to save some $$$

I was a bit shocked today to discover just how much the Ford mud flaps would cost me (around $500 after discount). Nearly half of the cost goes towards those elaborate stainless steel brackets that surround the flap and are part of Ford's solution to the aluminum/steel contact. Has anyone installed 3rd party mudflaps using a simpler design, say with aluminum screws?

Do the power running boards still work fine with the front set with lip molding mudflaps?

In case you just want to look at pix's of how they are installed, without reading the instructions.

2015 F150 XLT 4X4

You can just reuse the screws, but new ones come with the flaps. Where the clip is...There is a plastic tab that folds around between the wheel liner and fender lip. This is to isolate the clip off the alum fender.

Rear: It comes with some 3/m transparent film to install where the bracket touches the quarter panel.

Same deal as front where the clips are.

I have ordered a full set Weathertech mud flaps. About 1/4 the price of OEM flaps.

Yes....Never jacked mine up or removed the wheels.

On the front I used a 5.5mm box end ign wrench to remove the screws.
