Default MPG issue on a 2017 F 150 Supercrew 5.0L

My MPG is 13.3 over about a 400 mile trip with lots of interstate miles. Is that normal for a 2017 F 150 Supercrew with 5.0L? The truck has a set of 22" chrome Fuel Mavericks and 35X12.50 22R Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I see alot of people on here getting 17/18 MPG. I don't think the wheels and tires would affect the MPG by that much but could be wrong. I know it didn't effect my 5.6 Nissan Titan by much at all when I added wheels and tires. Anyone getting similar results? Thanks!

Did your calculation take into consideration your speedometer is probably not accurate with the larger size tire?

Cruise control on about 75. Seems like it has to work hard to keep it at 70 or above which is weird to me.

Didn't even cross my mind Thanks!. Maybe I can change that in Forscan if I know what to change.

With 35s I'd think that's about right. What gear ratio are you running?

if it makes you feel any better, my Wrangler on 35s gets 10.5 mpg.

Tires play a large role. They not only negatively affect your mpg but you’re also going faster than your speedo says. you’re right in the ballpark where you should be going that fast with a v8 and big tires lol.

Did you get your control module reprogrammed for the different tire size (overall diameter)? If not, there's your problem...your speedometer is off and thus your MPG calculations are off. I don't know which wheel and tire size your truck came with originally, but for example...the 20" wheels come with a P275/55/20 tire which has an overall diameter of 32.1" (size based on a Hankook Dynapro AT tire; OEM) and your 35X12.50 22R Nitto Ridge Grapplers have an overall diameter of 34.76"...doing the math, the circumference of the 20" Hankook is approximately 100.85" and the revolutions per mile would be approximately 628...the circumference of the Nitto is approximately 109.20" and the revolutions per mile would be approximately 580...big difference...in this scenario, when your speedometer reads 65 mph you'd actually be going 71 mph...

Regardless of tire size, I never saw more than 16 MPG with my 5.0, typically more like 15.

I averaged 20.4 mpg last fall on a trip (all highway) with my 5.0L and have never gotten less than 17 mpg with it...2015 F150 Platinum 4x4 with the 6-speed transmission...
