Default Moonroof problems f150

I have a 2016 F150 platinum, garage kept, have only got the moonroof button a handful of times, 38,000 miles.
Noticed a small rattle when going over bumps, went to open the moonroof and it became jammed, luckily was able to close it back.
Took it to my local Ford dealership for service. Was told that the track would need replaced at $1,900!!!!

1.5 year old Platinum should not have this issue and should be taken care of by Ford, do you agree?

Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks!

At 38,000 miles you’re not under warranty for that any more. So no, Ford should not take care of it.

Sucks, but you knew the warranty you were getting when you bought it.

How can that possibly not be under warranty? Without looking, I thought it was 3 years. In any case, if you want to DIY, have a look at

SSM 46899 -2015-2018 F-150 - Vista Roof - Roof Opening Glass Panel Binds

Some 2015-2018 F-150 vehicles equipped with a vista roof opening panel may exhibit binding while opening or closing of the movable glass panel. The roof opening panel glass bracket is available for service. Both brackets must be replaced.

My tracks were just replaced for similar. Roof would auto bounce-back & had to hold the button to close. Sounded like the tracks were crunching themselves to pieces.

Only 20k on mine, so covered under warranty. But, it's still not fixed. Parts on back order, picking it up tonight until the parts come in. But, so far, it doesn't rattle anymore...

2015f150platinum4x4. So at 38,000 miles, 1.5 years old, you think it’s acceptable for this to happen? To me it says a lot about the quality of their product.

Yeah, just looked at my warranty. In Canada, it's 36 months or 60,000km. So for us up north, that's 37,282 miles. We get an extra 1,282 miles. What this illustrates to me is that the dividing line between warranted/not warranted is arbitrary. No way should such a major, expensive part of the vehicle be failing at this point in time, if it was not abused. I would go back to Ford and work it up the chain to try and get it fixed. Ford must know that there is a problem with these roofs. To have them fail this early is not reasonable, and Ford should be expected to cough up to help.

It doesn't really matter what anyone here thinks. What matters is the verbiage of the warranty.

Since extended warranties are so lucrative for the dealers it is almost certain that you were offered one when you purchased your truck. You choose not to purchase the extended warranty and now you expect Ford to repair it out of warranty.

If you want any help at all you should not act like they owe you something or that you are entitled to it.

Sad that Ford did this to you. I would call the 800 number and plea your case and beg for some sort of assistance.

This is Ford though, the moon roof issues (let me say random so some dont go off the deep end) much like the various (random) water leaks are known issues that Ford should work with folks on! Yes, out of warranty!

This is one of the reasons why folks should buy an ESP! But then again, thats what Ford wants you to do!
