I got it figured out today. Since my iPad will only let me post one pic at a time I'll have to do this in multiple posts.

Step 1: Say a little prayer that you don't break anything on your $35k truck. Seriously, what could it hurt?

Step 2: Move the mirror glass up and in all the way to open up the widest gap possible on the outside mirror edge.

Step 3: Get a flashlight and a long flat head screwdriver with a medium sized head. You'll see a V shaped channel inside the gap on the backside of the mirror. This is meant to guide the screwdriver where you need it. Once you feel it go in all the way just give it a slight twist and with a little light prying around it the glass pops loose.

Step 4: Remove the 4 outer torx screws.

Step 5: Separate the outer housing from the inner housing. You'll need to fold the mirror in to get it off.

Step 6: With the passenger window down set the mirror glass on the window channel. You don't have to unplug the mirror glass to finish the job but you can if you want. The passenger glass is harder to unplug than the driver so I left it alone. You can pull the contacts loose if your not careful. I say don't risk it.

Step 7: Take the mirror cap loose from the housing. I cut the tabs loose with some some snips because a couple were really tough to pop loose. This is why I don't recommend pulling or prying the mirror cap from the housing.

Thanks for posting this. Can you post a picture of the mirror when you remove the part around the mirror adjuster arm? I want to see how much space is in there for something I'm toying with doing.

Step 8: Snap the chrome cap on by hand. Make sure you press firm and double check all tabs for firm snaps.
