That I might have the tailgate step. If I do what's the p/n for both pieces or a good aftermarket place to get one.

You definitely have the hand rail. I do have the rail and step on my Lariat

If your tailgate is rather heavy, then you probably have the step. If you're able to put it up with one finger, then you definitely do not! Also, you should have a square button on the top of your tailgate.

Yes you have the step. Do you not have the square button on top of the tailgate that releases the step? If not someone put the incorrect upper plastic piece on the tailgate during a repair.

No button and its heavy. The cap (molding) is one piece.

Yeah. Someone put the wrong cap on. It should look like the one in the picture above. Are you the first owner? I would think not and it looks like the truck may have been damaged and the body shop put on the wrong parts. I would take this up with your purchasing dealership if you just purchased the truck.

Did you buy the truck new?
If not, previous owner may have replaced the cap with a non-step version.

I'm not the original owner.

I don't see enough in that picture to say there is a step. I don't think the wrong cap would fit on the tailgate over the step. Did you take the cap all the way off to confirm that there is actually a step there?
