As a guy who spent many hours out in the yard burning things with lenses and sunshine, I can conclude with almost 99% confidence that that is sun laser damage. Because that's what I called it. My sun laser. I melted SO many things.

Very likely just a fluke of nature focusing light onto the surface. It happens. Saw a shot on reddit of a similar event, but inside the car that ruined door cards and seats.

Did you have a bottle of water up on the rail? I have seen this happen when the water acts as a lens allowing an intense beam of light thru it and melt plastic. Water droplets will do the same.
