Max Towing
With the latest max tow numbers being released for the 2018 surpassing 13k I'm curious who here has the *****/stupidity
to tow that much with their F-150? How did the truck handle the weight?
Personally I would never town beyond 8-9K with a half ton, but maybe I'm too risk adverse.

It wouldn't be something I'd do that's for sure. I'm right there with you around the 8k mark for towing with a half ton. It'll have the power to pull it but to stop, sway control etc may be a different story. They must have either increased payload numbers a bit (or is that with a max tow AND max payload setup?). Also wonder if the receivers are beefed up more to accomodate the extra tongue weight otherwise at 13k the tongue weight would have to be less than 10% b/c max tow receiver weight is 1200 lbs I believe (2015-2017).
If the tow rating is 13,200 the hitch will be rated at 1320 with WDH. With a perfectly rated flatbed trailer properly loaded, trailer brakes, and properly dialed in WDH, I would tow that weight. As long as you are not exceeding any ratings (GVWR, GAWR, hitch rating, GCWR) of course.
Most tow tow something that would have way more drag and still shouldn't tow more than 8k GVWR. Car hauler, travel trailer, etc. I feel confident with a properly equipped truck and an exact trailer type, the truck will perform as stated.

As is always the problem, someone will hook up a 12-13k GVWR travel trailer and come on here asking for opinions for upgrades. Stating that the trailer is swaying and the headlights are shooting too high and wonder why.

I would!
Not ***** or stupidity, but that's what the truck is rated for.
Truck is pulling, not carrying the load. You can pull a house and the truck be OK, but if the trailer that you put that house on is not set up properly you will have problems.
Know your load and determine safe speed for the conditions. Properly load the trailer and you will be fine.

Also the truck pulling the space shuttle. LOL any truck can do that look at the trailer there will be almost no tongue weight and it's all flat controlled environment probably pulling it 50 feet. LOL
Let see ya tow 13k with an F150 in the Mountains??? You gonna die. LOL

You wanna tow even 10k alot and use the truck not go get groceries with your 10k trailer I mean real towing... Long distance and across the country. You better be looking at a bigger truck.
Just Saying.
