Default Matte black paint?

Trying to take a lot of the chrome off my truck. I ordered a new Magnetic colored three bar grill from my Lariat. I want to rattle can it flat/matte black. What is the best spray for this? Assuming I will need to sand the magnetic grill a bit first?

Krylon Fusion for plastics would be my choice. Yes, I would scuff it up a bit first

X2 on the Fusion, lasted longer than traditional rattle can over adhesion promoter.

Let us know how it turns out. I’ve got a magnetic grille (bought off eBay) that I want matte black; with as big a PITA as it seems to be to swap grilles, still trying to decide if the rattle can route will last, vs having a body shop paint it professionally.

I want to say I had a quote for around $250 last summer. Unfortunately the grille was one of the Amazon knockoffs that didn’t have the camera mount. Fortunately the shop noticed before they painted it, otherwise...

Nice I picked this up off Ebay for $140 and its OEM. Even comes with a new Ford emblem.

Please post pics. I have a 2018 Shadow Black Lariat and considering changing the shadow black 2-bar grille to Matte.

Ask any hotrodder or hang out at an old school motorcycle shop, John Deere Blitz Black paint. It lays down really flat and is very durable:

This is good stuff.

Have you considered vinyl wrapping it yourself. I plan on vinyl wrapping my grill and hood for paint protection and aesthetic reasons, plus I can return it to stock if/when I sell it if needed.
