Default Manually activate reverse camera

I had a 2023 F150 Responder for a patrol car, and it had some extra features that were mostly unique to the responder model. For instance, there was a button to push so you could remove the key, but leave the engine running to charge equipment, but it couldn’t be driven or taken out of park until the key was reinserted.

Another feature, which I’m not sure is unique to the responder model or not, was I could push a button and activate my reverse camera manually. Even while driving down the highway. It was nice to keep an eye on who’s behind you. Or keep 360 awareness when parked in a parking lot typing reports without having to keep it in reverse. it did NOT have the 360 camera unfortunately just the rear camera.

Is there anyway, through Forscan perhaps, to add a button and be able to manually activate my rear camera anytime in my 2018 Lariat? Again, no 360 camera system, just a reverse camera. Though I’d like to eventually add the 360 system. The only feature my truck is kissing.

I have an Expy center stack I’m installing soon and it has an extra button hole I could fill with a camera button if this is even possible.

thanks in advance!

Disregard. I just found my answer in the Forscan thread. I’m ashamed of myself for not searching better before posting.

I sincerely apologize to all I inconvenienced and will go to my corner and flog myself mercilessly as penance. May the community have mercy on my soul.

Do you care to share your findings? Sounds interesting.

I can activate it at any time with my aftermarket Kenwood headunit with the iDatalink interface but here's the kicker, it only gives me a black screen if I'm traveling at more than about 7-10MPH which is stock programming I believe. I can activate it run to the next traffic light and once I go slower than the preset speed, the rear cam view comes on so I can see the car behind me then when the light goes green and I go it turns back into a black screen once I reach that speed threshold.

I guess I could wire a separate camera and mount it back there and plug it into the Kenwood's front cam input and then I'd be able to bring up that camera's view at any time at any speed.

Another option is one of those dash cam mirrors that come with a separate backup cam that can be mounted anywhere and will even record like the front dash cam.

I've looked at trying to disable the speed thing using Forscan several times over the years but I've not found the solution.
