How did you check it for correct charge? Anything other than recovery and weighed back in wont cut it.

So what are you thinking? Obviously cheap guage is not good enough but to freeze the evaporator would it be too high then?

These trucks are very sensitive to the amount of refrigerant in the AC system. Too little, caused by a leak, and you get a freezing evap coil. Weighing in is the best way to charge, that is why the cans of refrigerant with the single gauge on them is a bad idea. More is not better either. Starting diagnosis starts with a correctly charged system.

2018 SCREW Plat 93000 miles. I have had the same symptoms as you described. Dealer diagnosed the evap temp sensor failure. Ford lists it as a 7 hour repair as it is hard to get to. But that was my issue and A/C is working great again.
