Default Loud clunk when going from park to reverse

I started my 2015 crew cab 4X4 yesterday, and let the idle come down to normal range. When I put it in reverse, there was a pretty loud thump or clunk sound. When I put it back in park, it did the same thing. After that it was fine, and drives fine as well. Has anyone else had this happen? It never happened before so I don't think it's something normal..... Truck has 2500 miles on it, and was planning to bring it in for service at 3000 miles. Wondering now if I should bring it in asap. Thank you for any suggestions & advice.

I was parked on my driveway which has an extremely small incline. It's almost level....

try setting your parking brake before shifting to park so it doesn't roll a bit in park and rest on the gears

Thank you, I'll try that. I'm just concerned because it never happened before and I always park in the same spot.

Mine will do this if I don't use the parking brake on an incline. My driveway has a decent upward slope, so I usually put it in Neutral first, then engage the parking brake, then put it in Park.

When backing down/out I'll press the pedal brake, shift to Neutral, release Parking Brake then shift to Reverse and back out. This seems to avoid any weight on the gears or pawl.
