Default Losing/Using oil

2016 F-150 with the V8 with about 25K miles on it. I actually bought it new in June of 2017, so I've had it just over 3 years.

Last time I had my oil changed the manager of the place told me my oil was a little low. I assumed they just didn't fill it up all the way the last time. I checked the oil when I got home that day and it was completely full...full to just past the top hole on the dipstick. I just checked it, and it is low...just below the top hole on the dipstick. So it's apparently losing, or using, oil somewhere. I park in the same place at home, park in the same place at work, and there's no oil on the ground in either place. It's not smoking, there's no oil on the engine anywhere. So the question is, where the heck could the oil be going?

How many miles have you driven since it was just above the top hole?

And are you really saying it has gone from just above the top hole to just below the top hole? That is a fraction of a quart, depending on the miles drive it could be a non-issue.

Around 5K miles, give or take...which means it was already doing it at around 20K total miles on the truck. I know that's not a lot of oil to lose. But with no more miles on it than it has, I would think it shouldn't be losing any at all.

You might think that, but you would be wrong. Your usage rate is way, way lower than what Ford says is normal.

Okay, just wanted to make sure something wasn't wrong. Thanks
