The issue may not be the locking mechanism. It may be the tailgate bumper/stoppers. They tend to impede closing the tailgate because of the added spray under them. When my bed was sprayed I had a hard time closing my tailgate but with time it's getting better.

Sure, but Line-X should stay on top of those place. If you have a shop that's doing shoddy work under your brand name, that's just as much your fault as theirs. You should be able to get exactly the same result/quality at any Line-X place. Now sure, some shops might be "better" but that should only mean "quicker."

I don't think "quicker" in any way equates to being "better". In fact I would say just the opposite is true. A quality job and meticulous attention to detail would actually take longer. If you do a little research on finding a quality Line-X shop you'll find the process should take at least 3-4 hours. There are a lot of Line-X shops out there and I would think it's quite difficult to manage ALL of them. Not that they shouldn't be weeded out and in time and with enough complaints I'm sure they are. Another reason why I would narrow my search down to the Platinum authorized dealers.

So I took it back today and he said it was because the spray was too thick and the latches had nothing to do with it not closing. Regardless I feel that for $689 they should have taken the time to do it right. I found overspray on the side of the truck and on the bottom of the tailgate. They also didn't take out 2 of the large bolts in the bed and sprayed right over them. I'm taking it back tomorrow and they are supposed to fix it. I'm very hesitant taking it back to them though.

Sure it does. If you are more skilled, you will complete most any given task faster than a less skilled person. Now, even their most junior installer should be able to spray in a liner that meets all their quality standards in x hours, and that's what they should quote you for an estimated time. But if you've been doing it for years, maybe you've got that time down to, say 0.80 * x. Now you can make your company more money, and still do just as good of a job. Anybody in any industry should be able to do their job correctly, experience gets you speed.

I can paint my house, and I can probably do just as good of a job as any painter out there, but they'll all be able to do it a hell of a lot faster than I can - i.e. more efficiently. Same work, less time.

I believe that logo is affixed to the bed then sprayed over giving you that effect. Line-X does the same with their logo.

I had mine done at the Lakeville MN, LINE-X this Spring. I asked the young man doing the work not to spray the top of the front bulkhead. He got a 24 pack of MTN DEW for doing a great job of spraying and clean up. T.P.
