Has anybody installed any aux. lighting in the spot between the grill and bumper?

 

Are you talking actual usable lighting or more day time running lights type of output?

There is an F150 that I see running around in my area that has what looks to be an LED light bar across the top of his bumper he uses for DRLs.

It looks like he used one of the light bars that people put on the back of their truck across the tailgate somewhere.

Something like this? You could probably put a 30" curved single row instead

 

I have this one from F150Leds dot com on my truck. Bright as hell, like 23K lumens or something, and good form factor. Very easy install.
