I had lighted stainless steel door sills on my 2010 F150. Unfortunately, the design change to the 15/16 models makes that part not an easy modification. But with a little perseverance, it can be done.
I started with the sills available on eBay for the 09-14 models. They then had to be shortened to match the length of the sill insert on my 2016 Lariat. I then used a vibrating saw to cut off a portion of the tread notches that are molded into the sill. I wanted the plate to sit as flush as possible. Doing this allowed an overall height increase of only about 40 thousandths, the thickness of the stainless plate. The LED portion of the plate sits flush on the bottom of the sill.
Drilled a hole in each sill to pass the wire, then used black silicon to mount the LED plate to the sill. Once done, I ran the necessary wires to each side and made the necessary connections. Connected it to the point on the Body module that powers the lighted sills on a Platinum or Limited model.
Sorry about the photography, the lighted F150 part kind of overpowered the dark background of my black interior. But when you open the doors at dusk or dark, makes a very nice impression.
Attached is the page from the wiring diagram that I used to find a source. I've also attached the sections that show location and wiring harness path and the pinout of the connector.
The Body Module is located under the door on the passenger front kickpanel. I removed that panel, then removed plug 2280c. It is the one in the middle. You'll have to remove the tape on the factory harness to find the violet wire that comes from pin #26. That line goes hot (12v) when the doors open. It is the same circuit that turns on the dome lights and courtesy lights. It goes cold after a few seconds when the door is closed.
That same wire runs from the connector in the kick panel along the right side of the vehicle and up to the lights that activate in the overhead rear brake lights. It is the circuit for the cargo lights. For my install, it was easier to tie in at the panel box. If I had it to do over again, I would reverse the harness so I could tie-in in the sill area. Probably would be a little simpler.

Hey Paul
you posted the PDF about C2280C. Could you check if you can find out the terminal part numbers for this connector?
That would be really great. Thanks a lot in advance.
You could tap these into the door wire in the wiring harness in the sill. I did this to power running board lights I got from f150LEDs.com. The wire to tap is grey with purple stripe. The ground is a yellow with black strip or black with yellow strip I forget which,,,either way the ground wire is a larger gauge wire. When tapping into this wire for the running board lights the lights come on when you unlock the doors with the key fob and when the door is open.
Ok....I installed the lighted sill plates....wires connected....ground wire tapped into....I still can't find the power wire under the right rear door sill....I tried tapping into the solid purple and the purple with a grey strip...nothing.... This is the ground wire tapped into.....just can't seem to find the power wire
