Default To lift or keep level...?

So, I’ve always loved lifted trucks. I’ve had a bunch of them, but the newest was from the early 90’s and haven’t owned one for 15+ years.

I have a Platinum Super Crew. When I got it I put a 2.5” level on the front and 35’s. I really like it...until I see one with a proper lift and then I get a little (or a lot) jealous.

I have been eyeballing various 6” lift kits. I would keep my stock wheels and the tires I have new (they’re new). What are the downsides I would experience? Like I said...it’s my first modern truck. What lift kit do you recommend? I’d do the work myself...I was looking at the 6” Rough Country?

Can’t keep stock wheels on most 6” kits

Interesting. I’m not opposed to getting different wheels but that is definitely something to consider.

Most manufactures of lifts say you can use the 18" but not the 20", I lifted mine last week, love it! I went with the Fabtech and I am very impressed with quality, I went with the 4", still fits in my garage.

With 35's they would probably look alright but you generally want a rim with less offset.
Once you lift you can't go back as you will be cutting.
Do you want to still fit in the garage? Better measure.
Parking garages - fit
Expense
Gas mileage will drop
Ride may or may not be worse, usually not as smooth.

It will still fit in my garage, and I’m not worried about parking garages. I’m also not worried about the expense. Will my gas mileage drop further than it already has with my 35’s?

Here are a couple of pics, the tires are 33/12.5/20, as far as the ride I think it is better than the level was.

With a quality lift and shocks, your ride should be better than stock with the level, a lot will depend on the tires. I don't think your mileage will change that much from your current setup. Offset may not be correct on the stock wheels for the 6" kit. I like the BDS and Fabtech kits. You will be happy you did the lift.
