Leveling Kit and Tires
Hi-
Contemplating a leveling kit. Ultimately, I want a 2" level and 33's or the metric equivalant in some sort of All-Terrain tire as my truck will be on the road most of the time. I'm looking at Autospring for the Leveling Kit as it is recommended a lot on here and 2" seems to be the magic number for a level without stressing suspension and driveline components. Will a leveling kit void my factory warrenty? I will be installing myself.
Now wheels and tires. Got three options. I have the 17" silver painted factory rims right now. I really like the 18" Factory Magnetic Grey Sport wheels, which would match the color of my truck. I don't care for big rims and less tires. I'm more the opposite. 17" is slightly too small for me and 18" looks just right in a bigger tire. 20" is alright but slightly too big IMO. So, cheapest option would be to just put bigger tires on the factory 17" wheels. Option 2 would be to find a set of the 18" Factory Sport Wheels and throwing 33s on them. Option 3 would be to go with aftermarket wheels, preferably with a black finish because I hate chrome. Also, I'm not looking to mess with backspacing and all that. I may go with whatever the metric equivalent of 33s is to avoid running as I've heard they are narrower.
Also, what is involved with reprogramming the computer for the new size tires for the speedometer, traction control, antilock brakes, etc? Is that something only the dealership can do?
Thanks-

I installed the Motofab 2" level on mine and installed BFG KO2 275/70R18 (33.2x11) on the factory 18" wheels. I can't say for sure about the warranty, I have heard people say yes and no, but have never seen anyone who actually had their warranty voided. I would guess that IF they can directly attribute an issue to you installed the level, than they might decline it, but I doubt that it would outright void it. As far as reprogramming the computer for the bigger tires, the dealer can't but it can be done with a bluetooth OBDII adapter and Forscan. Check the sticky post for details.

Here's mine so far: ProComp 2.5" Front Level, HaloLifts Raptor Style 2 3/4" to 2 5/8" Rear Block, 285/65/20 BFG KO2. Next plans are rear 5100's for now. Dealer confirmed no warranty infringement by installing these parts. They were a little concerned with the bigger tires, but as long as I don't tow 12,000lbs or take it to a drag strip, there's no worries. They actually commented that the rear block was one of the nicest he's ever seen, so that helped.

Stock tires are right at 32.1-32.5 depending on the wheel. The amount different in the computer is small enough that there's not a point changing the computer (in my opinion at least). My 33x12.5's measure about 32.7" tall mounted.
As far as the warranty, in the US they would have to prove the modification caused the failure. i.e. the ball joint goes out after the level. A leveling puck will not instantly void any warranty. If you do a full leveling strut replacement then it will void the warranty of the strut (duh since it's no longer installed).

I have a Autospring 2.5in lift with 3in rear blocks. I run 17x9 Xd Hoss 2 wheels with 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers G2. I spent $1800 for wheels and tires with the sensors already installed. They shipped them for free and were ready to be put on when they arrived. I don't know about the warranty issue though. Im sure someone will chime in. You figure you are going to spend around $1000 for new tires anyways, so I just saved a little more for some new wheels. If you stay 17's there seems to be a lot more options for tires at a more reasonable price but I may be wrong on that. I know when I looked at 18's the price jumped up quite a bit. The tires im running measure right at 33 inches.
The wheels im running have a +18mm offset. To me they stick out just the right amount.
Factory 17's vs New Nittos

The aftermarket wheels look so good but I'm torn between that and the factory look with factory wheels. Mainly I want to get my truck leveled, on bigger tires, and more aggressive tread before winter. I'm going from 265-70-R17s (basically a 31) to something around 33s. I'm contemplating just putting a set of 285-70-R17s on my factory rims. Or 295-70-R17s. And I'm just going to go 2" on the level to not stress components too much.
