Default LED Tail Light Bar

I put in/on an LED light bar above the rear bumper / below the tail gate. (pretty sure we have all seen these.) Right now, I plugged this into the 4 pin hitch and the truck believes there is a trailer hitch. I had planned to hide the wires behind the bumper for a clean look. Will the truck think there is still a trailer when you add an accessory to that branch of wires?

I believe it will. If you want to hard wire it in it should solve the problem. It can be done very clean with no issues from the wiring harness if you splice in and heat shrink a tube around it to prevent moisture intrusion.

Yes, it will. You will get the trailer warning screens every time you start up.

Personally, I thought this was annoying. Ended up wiring mine to the taillights. Mine is an XLT with non-BLIS halogen taillights. Not sure if this is possible with the LED BLIS equipped models.

I have dual led lights mounted under my bumper. They are wired directly into the backup pin on the 7 pin connector.

I have BLIS on my truck and don’t have any trailer connection issues.

Back up lights don't cause the trouble, the turn/brake signal wires will.
