Default LED Reverse Light Conversion Issue

I searched quite a bit before deciding on which brand of LED light to add for the reverse lights, and ordered a set of 3156, per the owner's manual, and which Amazon showed as correct for the truck as well (side note - I also ordered bulbs for the 3rd brake cargo lights, installed without issue).

They arrived today, and as I attempt to install them, I can clearly see that the base and contacts are shorter on the replacements bulbs than the original. Try to snap in place, just in case, and no go. I can barely see writing on the OEM bulb, so I take a pic of it, and it is a toshiba W21W, which cross references to a 7440. Pretty annoyed as I put the taillights back together with the original bulbs still in place. No reference in the manual to that bulb #, and on Amazon (not that they are necessarily an authority), about half of the listings for this bulb say they fit the truck and the other half says they do not.

I have already ordered the 7440's and started the return of the 3156, but it is surprising that the manual would have this wrong. I have downloaded a couple of different revisions of the manual, and both list the 3156 as the bulb for that location. I think I saw a post on another forum saying those bases were interchangeable, but that bulb did not come close to fitting the socket in the truck.

Anyone else heard of this one?

Follow up on this thread.

I ended up with Sirius LED brand 7440's and they look good. Bright enough that they kind of wash out the camera a little bit. Only installed for 1 day, so no real feedback other than initial thoughts.

The Auxito 921's in the upper cargo lights on the other hand, are a bust, at least temporarily. I like their brightness, and they fit well, with good light pattern, but I went out this afternoon, and one of them flickered a bit, then half of the leds stopped working on that bulb. I have already set up a replacement set, which will arrive tomorrow, so not a big deal, but definitely throws your confidence in the product out the window. We will have to wait and see how these ultimately hold up. I am hoping they will, because the more bulb-like format with the diffuser cover these have gives a great light pattern
