Default LED headlights and winter?

So anyone that has ran LED lights on their truck knows they usually suck in snow due them getting frozen over because they dont build enough heat to melt the snow. Ice builds up on them and lowers light output greatly.

Does Ford have an answer for this? Has Audi or acura or any of the other companies had issues or solutions with this?

Same issue with my HID projector bulbs on my current SUV. I keep a bottle of the spray-on windshield de-icer in the truck for that exact reason.

Just clean them off when u stop. German manufacturers usually have windshield washers on their headlight and that melts the ice. I don't drive in 3 hours trip snow storms for this to be an issue anyways.

I am not familiar with how LED lights work in the snow, but I believe it is a requirement for vehicles sold in most European countries with HID headlamps to have A) a wiper/washer and B) a leveler that can be adjusted either automatically or from the interior manually.

Led lamps will be no different than current hid setup on f150's. Very minimal heat output from either

The latest LED's used in headlights do get hot. If conditions cause ice to form, just use cooking spray or WD40 on the lenses. Ice will not stick then. I have HL2200 LED replacement bulbs in my 13 F150 and don't have any problem with ice.

The LED headlight looks sweet.

I just noticed that we can get the LED headlight on LARIAT with the 3.5 liter engine with 502 Package. Is this accurate?

Any other thoughts on this? I live in Alaska, so if LED headlights aren't a good choice for winter... I probably should stay away.

i never found "clear" ice on headlights being an issue.
if they get dirty with road crap / salt while driving, halogens or LED makes no difference. Just stop for a minute, clean them with some snow and get moving again!
