The LED Bulb/Light Thread
Hey guys,
Kind of a re-intro here - been part of the community for a while. Had an 04 brand new, but kinda slipped outta things for the last several year and stopped doing work to the truck. A week ago I picked up a new '15 F150 and I have the bug again! I have a XLT Sport 302a package. I've spent the last week reading through all the latest threads, and I was hoping to consolidate some of the lighting info. I've read about melting third brake lights, replacing headlights, foglights, taillights, interior lights with LEDs. But when i try to go back to find the bulb type or even search, I can never find it. So, I was hoping we could get it all in one thread.
If you have replaced a bulb with an LED, can you put the size/type here.
Also, a kinda related question - I want to add LED strip lights in the bed (in addition to the bed lighting that came from the factory) - I saw a picture of a guy here that did it, but couldn't find any more info. F150LEDs.com has a kit but it taps into the dome lights, I want to tap into the bed lights.
Thanks for the help guys - and its good to be back!

Hi there,
I may be able to help with the LED lights in the bed.
Thanks for the feedback on the lighting in the bed. I did that shortly after buying the truck. I still smile whenever I press the button to turn them on.
I purchased the lights from Amazon.ca. I used the bright white waterproof lights. I believe the 5m roll was ~$8.00. The lights have an adhesive backing on them already. I stuck the lights to the bottom of the aluminum frame/gutters for my folding cover. My cover is the Ford cover, which IS a
Bakflip G2. I added some Gorilla Glue to the ends of both strips, just for some added strength.
I wanted the lights to work with the OEM bed lighting. I removed one of the OEM LED lights, and tested the voltage with my meter. Sure enough, it was just under 12 volts. I cannot recall the wire colors. They are the same on both sides. Because these are LED, the polarity does matter. This allowed me to tap into the factory wiring. The left strip is tapped into the left light, and the right strip is tapped into the right light. As an added bonus, the added LED strips fade off just like the OEM lighting.

This is awesome - thanks for sharing. I think this might be my holiday break project. A buddy of mine said he likes the stuff from superbrightleds.com. They have some cool stuff, def more expensive than amazon. The one thing I do like is they have a kit with a black LED strip...would really help to hide it along the black bed rails. If I get this done over the holidays, I will post some pics and which wires to tap.
