Default LED Bed lights

Just bought my first Ford. Love my new 2018 STX. Came from a 2002 Chevy Silverado. I do have plans to add auto start and will add a bedrug and tri fold MX4 bed cover. Looking at adding the LED lights in the bed but don't know which way to go with that. Anyone have any experience with upgrading and lighting up the bed with LED? What is the best way to go. I should add that the previous owner did a spray in bed liner and covered the stock LED lens locations. The dealer quoted me $210 for the factory kit but the service department had no clue what to charge me for install.

I got an inexpensive bed light kit for Christmas which I installed. I ran my own power from the battery along the drivers side (inside the frame) and up the rear corner. Installed the light switch on the removable cover for where the factory lights would go. I have a tonneau cover and just wrapped the wires abd lights underneath the rails. Works great, though I don't have high hopes in the longevity of the lights themselves. Will probably replace with something higher quality when they die.

Factory kit JL3Z-13E754-A will not work on your 2018 STX. Your truck is missing two wires from the engine bay harness to the inside of the truck that allow the bed push button and the internal light switch to work.

This is a known issue and you must have a 301A package or higher to work.

See this post for more info. I just made my own two wire harness and was able to get the lights to work on my 2018 STX. Of course you will also need to have the dealership reprogram the BCM or use FORScan to do it yourself.
