Leaving fob in truck

Leaving fob in truck
I like to leave my key fob in the truck and lock it with the keypad. If someone were to break a window could they just drive off with the truck or does the keypad have to be unlocked to start the vehicle?

If you have a hitch, you can get a hitch lock to leave the fob in.

Interesting but what's the difference between breaking into a truck to get at a fob or breaking in the front door of a house to get a fob? Break and enter is break and enter no?

Can you even do that? On my Taurus with the fob if it's in the car and you try to lock the doors, the horn beeps and the doors unlock.

Interesting. So does the fob have to be within a certain distance of the dash (or whatever receiver) for the truck to be able to start??
I do this as well when I hunt in the fall. I would typically lock my keys in the truck while I am in the woods....removes the possibility of them getting lost in the woods....but also increases the likelyhood of the truck being stolen...I get that. But if you stashed the fob in the back seat area, would the truck still be able to start??
Sorry, I should have mentioned that my truck has not yet arrived. Just moved to "awaiting shipment". So hopefully here in a couple weeks.

I believe it states tn the manual that the vehicle will not start with that fob until the doors are unlocked via the key pad or another fob. Sorry I don't have my manual handy to check.
