Who's done what for upgrades on their leased 15-17 F150? I know you're "not supposed to" but I know some of y'all have and get away with certain things. Let's see it!

anything that can be removed easily when you return it. people have been modifying leased vehicles forever. don't make any permanent changes.

We have a thread about upgrades you aren't supposed to do? That doesn't sound like much of a good idea. Unless the changes aren't permanent...

Mine is leased. I've done a cold air intake and LED fog lamps upgrades. If I don't keep it, I'll remove them.

i tinted the windows, added running boards, and sprayed the rear wheel liners black on my last leased truck....

Nothing said about any of that when I returned it. Hey, who ever bought it after that probably appreciated it.

Check my signature in Italics, I have done quite a lot. I will keep it or sell outright to recoup the cost.

Just a note of caution. You cannot sell the truck without buying the lease out FiRST. You might already know this, but the way your post was worded I just wanted to mention it.

I have discussed modifications with Ford Credit and the owner of a dealership I have worked with for a while.

The rule I got from both was, you can make any change to any lease vehicle as long as the change either preserves or increases the value of the vehicle.

In other words, a quality spray in bed liner (not a done at home job where it's uneven and looks terrible), adding wheel well covers, adding a tonneau cover, replacing with better tires, window tint, etc, are all totally fine.

What won't fly is replacing the seats with leopard print covers, repainting the hood with a confederate flag, etc, etc.

My 2012 F-150 I did plastidip on the badges, tinted the windows, stuff like that, left it all on when I turned it in and never heard a word.

Exclamation

Depends on how picky the person who evaluates your lease trade-in is!!!!!!

And most times, its NOT the dealer who evaluates it. its a third party leasing company.

Right... I just went through the inspection process on our 2014 Flex. The guy that came out was really nice. We talked for a while as I was unsure about how much damage was acceptable, stuff like that. He echoed everything I explained.

I don't imagine there is anyone out there so picky that the things I mentioned as being okay would be a problem.
