Default Learning to Shift

My understanding is that the computer learns the driver's habits over the first few hundred miles and adapts the transmission's programming to that. My one complaint about my truck (other than the @&^*&^ "hands on steering wheel" warning) has been the transmission's sluggish downshifting at low speeds. I figured that it is programmed that way in an attempt to optimize fuel mileage, but as a guy who is used to driving cars with manual transmissions, I didn't much like it.

Somewhere around the 3,500 mile mark this all changed. Don't know if my computer is a slow learner or what, but it always seems to be in the proper gear now, essentially becoming 'invisible' like a good automatic transmission should. Has anyone else noticed this with their truck?

I'm only up to 500 miles, but it's good to hear. Thanks for the post.

So question. So with this said, would this mean if your going to do a lift / level, bigger tires be better to do let's say within the first 5000 miles? So it will learn these characteristics versus just plain stock.
