They said it's a typo. That link I posted has Ford's Director of Regional Communications saying it's a typo and will be corrected.
I suspect it has propagated itself into many places and they have no fixed all of them yet.
You could call Ford, or communicate via email or social media if you want them to fix it for peace of mind.

I'm curious, the only trucks I've owned previously were a '00 Ford Lightning and a mid-90s Ford Ranger which neither had an optional extended range fuel tank AFAIK
so I'm wondering, why is this even an option? Why not put the larger tank on all the trucks? In other words, who would want the smaller tank, and why? to save a tiny bit of money on the option? save weight?
