Default Kick right before complete stop

2017 f150 5.0

I am getting a nasty kick forward sensation right I come to complete stop. I have read the threads about the yoke splines needs to be periodically lubed. So I did that today and it appears to still be doing it. Is it possible that I didnt lube enough? Should I look at something else?

Try this; spread the front of the rear springs apart just enough where the Pad separators are and squirt some oil in and see if the problem goes away.
The rear axle does some winding up under acceleration and opposite during braking and springs move between the two leaves and wears the Pad down.
If no effect, then some other area is dry or in failure.
Good luck.

First - the yolk really needs to be greased with the Motorcraft PTFE grease. If that doesn't solve it, it could be good old fashioned u-joints need replaced.

I will say that it feels better and less frequent since I did it, which was 2 days ago (probably my brain playing tricks). It could be that I just didn't grease it enough. I will give it another go when I get the opportunity.

My worry is that its the transmission. Plan to do a fluid and filter change here shortly.

My truck was doing this '15 2.7 6R80. It's had Valvoline Maxlife ATF in it for the last 30,000 miles (drain and filled twice). I switched ATF due to TC shudder issues, that the fluid swap cured. For quite a while it has had an occasional harsh 5-4 downshift on very light throttle. It's a known 6R80 issue, and there's a software update. Over the last year it's started doing exactly what the OP described. I think it's occasionally shifting 3-1 rather harshly just before stopping on occasion. Recently I also had lead-frame range sensor issues. With the lead-frame change the valve body was removed, and it took almost 9quarts of transmission fluid. It's currently filled with Mobil 1 HPLV blue label. It's totally off label use (think it's Dextron 6), but it's never shifted this well. The bump before stop is completely gone, and the light throttle 5-4 is completely acceptable but not perfect. Flame away!

Have you tried reseting the transmission adaptive learning with a scan tool? My kick was completely gone for a about 2 weeks after clearing the adaptive tables. It did come back, but it's not nearly as harsh as it once was.
