Default Keyless entry bed cap

Hello, I've researched this but was unable to find an answer. I'm in the market for a bed topper. I found an A.R.E z series with the keyless entry. My question is if I bought this cap, would I be able to program the lock to my key fob? Was hoping someone would have info on this.

Thank you.

I didn't get this option with mine, but when I priced it later, I knew I would have NOT gotten it for the price. Have you priced it?

And No, I don't know how they program it.

Yea the price for it is crazy expensive on a new topper. There is a A.R.E z series used that I could pick up for a reasonable price. I was just wondering if I bought a used one would I be able to program the lock to my key fob.

I actually thought I'd just buy a new one after searching for so long but the dealer said it would be 14-16 weeks for a ordered cap to come in.

I have a Z series. I got it before the newest one came out. Not my first Z either. If the used topper has a programable lock, I wouldn't see a problem as long as the lock is functional. Ask the dealer how it is programmed, or just play the google game with finding out.

I had to replace the handle and key locking mechanism on one topper. It was over $100.

It's from a private seller, I might have to just call the dealer and ask though. If it wasn't close to 4k for a new Z I'd go that route. Crazy how expensive toppers are.

Just for future reference if anyone was wondering the answer down the road.

The A.R.E dealer said this. There is no reprogramming done, the E-lock has a wiring harness that attaches to the vehicles door actuator switch.
