Default Keeping the tailgate "partially" open

Hi

I am buying a new F150 long bed which is 96 inch (8ft)

I want to put my Road King in the back .. which measures 94 inches .. only leaving 2 inches ... which is not enough.

I want to leave the gate opened as shown below. I haven't looked at the latching mechanism on the dealer lot yet ... thought I might ask here.

Will this work?

thanks in advance

The latch site is at http://www.vehicle-systems.com/tailgate.htm

You didn't really ask anything.

Aren't Road Kings supposed to be ridden? I wouldn't want to squeeze my 450lb pig of a sport bike in the bed of a truck let alone a Road King. I would get a trailer.

I knew that response would come

Right now I have a little over 310,000 miles on my '03 and am retiring ... so I (we) will be going out on the road for extended periods.

And she's earned a ride now and then

Then I would definitely get a trailer. My utility trailer is a perfect bike hauler and I bought it used for $800. Best money I have ever spent.

I am confused. The 8 ft bed is 96" inside. The Road King is 94" long. Why won't it fit?
Congrats on retiring. I did about two years ago. Also have an 8ft bed...

Why not put it in on an angle?

I think a bed extender might be helpful to you.
