Default Keeping hvac on recirculate

I have a 2018 STX. While driving down the road I notice that the recirculate keeps turning off. Not really a big deal but air quality is currently at 250 and I’d like to keep the smoke out of the cab as much as possible. Is the only way to keep it on is to constantly watch it and turn it back on or do I have to hit the right buttons. Sorry if this topic has already been discussed but I couldn’t find anything with a google search.

Depends on your settings. When you have defrost on, recirculate automatically turns off to prevent window fogging. Also if you use auto during hot outside temperatures or when the inside of the truck is hot, the system automatically uses recirculated air to maximize interior cooling. It'll shut of automatically when the interior reaches the desired temp.
