it says something like an outside source is trying to connect to my sync connect please see owners manual to deactivate. Anyone know what's this about, I've had the truck since Aug of 07', but it just started doing this a week or so ago. Thanks.

Do you mean August of 2017?

Have you setup your truck to connect to your Home WiFi?

Yeah, I meant 17' and yes, it's connected to my home WiFi. It does it at work, the grocery store, everywhere.

You can disable external Wi-Fi connection on the menu, while keeping the truck's Wi-Fi active. But I suspect your issue is the stupid app FordConnect (or whatever is called). Do you have it active? It tracks your every move, and every time you start the truck, brings up a similar message. And yes, the only way to clear that is with a master reset, which was exactly what I did. And yes, you can still have Wi-Fi without FordConnect, because I had it until it eventually expired. After resetting Sync, I deleted the app from my phone. If you don't have the Ford app, just disable the exterior Wi-Fi on the menu. Don't remembe exactly where it was, but it's easy to find it under Wi-Fi, I believe. Hope this helps. Good luck.

There're 2 options for Wi-Fi: The built-in internal one (in-car Wi-Fi), that requires subscription (usually 3 months free when new, like mine). And the external one, that connects to your house, etc. You can enable either one, both, or none. The message the OP is getting is exactly the one I was getting with the Ford app, which has nothing to do with Wi-Fi. You might get a similar message with an external Wi-Fi connection, but I've never tried that, so not sure. It's possible, but only if the truck is actually connected. An easy test is to disable exterior Wi-Fi and see if the message still pops. If yes, it has to be the Ford app, meaning it's sending all info to Ford. Forgot the wording of the message, but it had data on it, like letting us know it started transmitting data.

There's a thing or two turned on that you need to turn off. Make sure wifi is turned off, auto-update is turned off and maybe something else. I had it after updating to 3.2 and finally found the spot that was telling it to look for......whatever...every time I started the truck. If you don't find it, I'll try to find it again and tell you where it was.

Default Sync connect

it’s the Ford Pass App it’s letting you know your location is being tracked aka your gps. Delete the app if you don’t want it to monitor your location that’s all it is

I doubt anyone is still wondering about it 6 years later.
