I continue to appreciate the knowledge that everyone is willing to share on this forum. I've got a very nice 11 SC 4X4 XLT that I should just keep, 21K miles, I'm just itching to update to a Screw, my excuse is the grandkid's car seats Spending this kind of cash makes me nervous, especially when it is very far from necessary. Like I shared in a previous post, this very well could be my last truck as I contemplate retirement hopefully in a few years.

What's the best price anyone's gotten on a base xl reg. cab? I have a 15 mustang that I'd like to garage until spring and want a new daily driver...Dealer close to me advertises 16,995 with loyalty and fmcc financing but can't get them to commit to an otd price before going in and wasting time....I'm in South Texas

Higher trim levels you will pay more for upfront, however your resale value is always much better as there are fewer of them used on dealers lots. Most dealers have tons of used XLT's and very few Lariats.

Purchase an XLT with $10k off is Great until you go to trade it. The trade value is then measured against a New XLT with $10k + in discounts.

Just another way to look at it!
I heard the same argument about buying a Tundra. You spend less buying a ford upfront and in turn it is worth less. That is the same argument for buying a BMW vs buying a Ford Focus. I would rather spend less initially vs paying more and hoping that i could get more money out of it when you sell. There is no guarantee you will get the money back. The Lariats have a higher resale value due to less rebates but you will spend significantly more money purchasing it and in turn will likely lose more money overall. Even with a better resale value you will be unlikely to recoup the money you spent on the options with a Lariat.

Lariats just never get the rebate love the XLT's do. I'd take an XLT all day long if I could get it with the Intelligent key/push button start.

I've been low balling a 1/16 mfg Lariat ($54k MSRP my offer $42,500 + TTL) for 2 months now and all I'm hearing back from the dealer is the rebates will update on 1/4/17, and see how they look then. They aren't budging. They came back with $46K. While not a bad price, we're well into the 17's MY and with a mid-cycle refresh (and potential diesel option) for the 18's, and a couple of grand more (less rebates on those) I may just end up waiting.

If you're looking for a basic 500a Lariat (I want a 501a), this one is a steal at $36k (if the price is legit). I've never seen a Lariat that low.

Lariats have push button start which you can't get, or reasonably put on an XLT after it's been purchased. I've had 3 vehicles with it, and it's worth it weight in gold due to the convenience. I never thought it such a great thing until I started using it daily. Really really handy. Especially with kids, and having you hands full of stuff to carry all the time. Never having to have your keys in your hand is a great thing.

It's too bad these Lariat aren't just 501a sports with no other options. That would knock about 4K off that $54K price and you may be able to get them at 42k. Which is basically what I am looking for.

And bigcitymike, that's my reason for wanting a Lariat. That push button is so convenient.

Anyone in the Denver area have feedback on our Ford dealers as far as pricing? I'm looking for a 2016 SCrew XLT, 302A.
