Default Jumpseat modification

Hey guys, first post here. Ive done a pretty exhaustive search on my idea, but have only found one person thats done it. (different truck)

Has anyone attempted to remove the "seat" on the jumpseat in your 16 F150? I would like to install some radio equipment in that storage area, but cant do that unless i removed the "seat" or lid. It would allow me to keep the back of the seat, or armrest as its always used to cover the radios and keep them hidden when not in use. Heres a pic of the one i found on a different truck.

Because the many large antennas are not a dead giveaway for expensive electronic equipment? While I understand the "idea" of trying to hide expensive stuff I don't really think it does much in this case. Makes me think of a small child playing hide and seek hiding behind a flag pole.

Hide is a relative term. Would you rather Ford ran all of their wires on the outside of the dash and trim? Sometimes you get tired of looking at stuff lol.

I'll give you that. The picture you posted is a clean setup. And installed like in the picture it looks like it would be much more difficult than just a smash and grab.

You might try checking out local auto salvage yards to see if you can get a jump seat from a wreck that you could hack into something. In the picture it looks like there are trim plates that are custom made/fit to each component that are mounted to a larger plate or base of some sort. You also might be able to contact the person who posted that picture for more detailed pictures to get ideas for your own implementation.
