Unhappy IWE’s grinding

Hello, I have a 2017 f150 xl, had the typical iwe grinding
1. changed the check valve 2x first one’d did not seal
2. I changed the solenoid
3. I had both iwes changed by a 4wd shop. They shared info and their check list, the check both iwe’s and vacuum lines and stated they were good with no vacuum loss. I still have light grinding after a minute or so of driving then when I’m accelerating .” Driver side only”. Any experienced advise is highly appreciated.
Ford said they can look at it in 3 weeks and it’s a 250.00 diagnostics…..want my truck back and drivable

I was actually at my local dealer today complaining about this for the third time. I have an extended warrantee that should cover this. I previously paid for the diagnosis and the software update under the old TSBs, 20-2028 and 22-2219. They had it for several days prior to replacing the trans valve body. During that time, a tech took it out several times in the morning to get it to reproduce the ratcheting sound. It was May and not cold enough outside to reproduce. So, Ford will not cover it under my extended warrantee. Come September, it does it again and told they need to have it in to reproduce the sound before they will cover it. I figure it is not worth wasting my time and replace the vacuum check valve. All good for a while but started doing it again last week. Drop in today and get the same story, we need it for several days to see if it will reproduce or it is not covered. Ford is really screwing up on this one. Multiple people have this issue. They know it is an intermittent problem, but they refuse to get off their *** and do it for people. I can understand that they might want to weed out the people who want to get it done even though they don't have an issue. In my case, I paid for the diagnosis and have continued to have the same issue. The truck only has 26,000 miles on it. Same run around. My only hope is to drop it off for days in the hope that it replicates. Might be just another waste of my time.

Ford Moderators, please step up and get Ford to do something about this. Ford F150 Forum - Community of Ford Truck Fans - View Profile: Ford Motor Co.

Maybe if enough of us send a private message, there will be some action. I just sent mine.

So I seen this tbbs sheet on this and you’re suggesting if they did not do this I should have it done? Just want to be clear and make sure I’m comprehending this correctly? The ford techs that was having the meeting of the minds all agreed that this never works lol. I am not doubting you or mocking you. And I’m willing to try this at this point.

So your suggestion is to have them update the TC CJ calibration?

Luke,
If you are addressing your comments to me, I am not suggesting you do anything. I'm just pointing out my experience, the TSB and Ford's reluctance to correct a defect that they know exists. Whatever route you chose to take is up to you.

For the easy fix, I would just cap the tubes and leave them in the lock position. I believe there is a TSB for this.
