Default iPhone charging problems

I have a 2018 XLT with Sync 3. Today I connected my iPhone 7 to the truck for the first time. The CarPlay function seems to be working as expected but the iPhone's charging icon keeps appearing/disappearing every few seconds. It would be nice to use CarPlay without my phone buzzing every few seconds as it starts/stop charging.

Edit: I have the latest version of iOS installed. I have been unable to upgrade the Sync software.

This is a brand new Apple Lightning cable, but I will try some other cables.

I've had issues in the past with the USB connector in the cubby. I noticed that I'd lose/regain my connection when I moved the phone around. I closed the cubby lid on the cord so the connection wouldn't jiggle and all was right.

If you keep your phone in your pants pocket, check the phone charging port for lint. Take a toothpick and clean it out and your charging problems will go away.

I second this ^. Sounds like a lint build up.

I cleaned the phone's charge port and used the same cable. Worked like a charm.

Dang lint gets everywhere!
