Default IOS12 - where is Waze?

Just upgraded to IOS12 today, was expecting to see Waze in Carplay on Sync3 on my 2018. Is there an extra step I need to do?

Wait for WAZE to update their app. 12 was just released.

iOS 12 is launching on Monday. One of the most anticipated features from our readers is support for third party navigation apps in CarPlay. If you don’t like Apple Maps, iOS 12 enables third party apps to offer navigation interfaces in the car.

Waze has now rolled out a new update with iOS 12 CarPlay integration to its private beta program. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like this update will be available next week.

Just like 10 and 11, which I participated in both beta programs, it usually takes a few weeks before apps are released once the major release of iOS is released. Only simple apps get updated within the first few days, and those are ones that were working in the beta release.

Be aware though if you have some business apps, like Palo Alto, and a few others, don't upgrade to iOS 12 until they have new updates, or they will fail. Their Global Protect does not work in 12, and won't be updated for a few weeks yet, so if you rely on that app to get corporate access, you will lose it with 12.

That's interesting. Off-topic, but... my company uses Mobile Iron. I'm upgrading my phone to iOS 12 now with no issues, but that doesn't mean Mobile Iron won't have problems, I guess. If what you're saying is true--and I'm sure it is--those apps should prevent an iOS upgrade. We have an in-house app for work management that effectively prevents iOS upgrades. My iPad is still on iOS 9 or 10 because of that, so I'm sure it's possible.

Back on track... I'm anxiously awaiting the Waze upgrade so I can re-enable CarPlay. Sync 3 sucks for playing media off my iPhone, and Waze through AppLink is slow.

Same here, will actually wait until there is a patched release of 12. By then most if not all my apps will be current. However, the moment Apple makes it impossible to update the phone, like they did the ipad, then I will be done with iphone and get an Android. Their new phone prices are ridiculous.

That happens on many competing platforms, not just Apple.

The beta just got approved by Apple and pushed to beta testers today. Everything is smooth, nothing like using it through sync 3.
