Intermittent key issue
Searched the forum and could not find a thread similar to my issue.
Have an intermittent issue to where the key will not turn all the way back to remove out of the ignition. Sometimes i can put truck in gear and back to park and it will come all the way out. Others it makes no difference. Did it 3 times yesterday. Sometimes cycling the key front to back, cranking will let it work. No rhyme or reason behind getting it unstuck.
Any ideas?

Sounds like its not going into Park completely and I'm not sure if its a cable or electronic solenoid that controls this lock out feature.
*function is to not allow the key to turn completely back while in gear avoiding the steering from being locked in an emergency situation*

Have you checked for DTCs? Many diagnostic codes do not show any message on the message center.
The other thing to look at is the ignition switch itself. Internal to the switch is the key removal inhibit solenoid.
From the WSM:
The key removal inhibit solenoid (internal to the ignition switch) is an electronically controlled solenoid that prevents the ignition lock cylinder from being turned to the OFF/LOCK position unless the selector lever is in the PARK position. This also prevents the key from being removed from the ignition lock cylinder.
