Default Intermittent Display issue

Hi all,

I'm new to the forums and to the truck world. I have a '15 Lariat Supercrew I got back new at the end of Feb and every so often my display for what gear I am goes out.
It will go out for a week or two then out of the blue it will come on for a day or two then go out again.
If I switch to Manual I get the M1-M6 to show and they don't disappear but I don't run in manual all that much.
I know it's minor (hopefully it not one of these snowballing things) but has anyone else have this?
Only reason I've been noticing is that when I pull in to my driveway or pull out and hit the 'bump' I feel like my truck doesn't know what gear to go into. It's a 1st/2nd gear issue. It feels like it's switching from 1st to 2nd down to 1st really fast and I feel like I'm in truck with someone learning to drive stickshift for the first time
After 10 seconds or so it quits and I accelerate like normal. Every time I get this 'surge' my gear display is out so I can't tell if it a shifting issue.
Now this 'surging' isn't happening as often now (warmer weather? Break in?) I don't know.
Anyone else have this display issue?
Anyone else experience this 'surge' or shifting issue? Does it sound serious or just learn to drive?
Thanks

The gear display is toggled on/off by using the +/- buttons on the gear shifter. You're probably hitting it without knowing it, making it appear and disappear.

This.

If it's not visible, hit the + button on the side of the shifter. I'd say 'down' but that would make you into a five-speed.
