Injen intercooler
#11
Not much done at this point with the motor. I have only an AEM drop in filter right now. I have had the SPD turbo adapter for a few months now, just not installed. I do plan on a tune, but I have a short rattle during cold start up and want to get that sorted out before I would tune. Also, in the near future I will do aftermarket throttle body (not BBK) and CAI. I know the last two will be no to very little HP/TQ increase, but it should help elsewhere. Upgraded turbos are way to expensive and then you add install.

i live in a cold climate, so leaving them would likely be a good thing.

I can't speak for the Injen, but probably not. When I put in my CVF intercooler I had to remove a small plastic frame that directed air from the shutters to the OEM intercooler. Because the CVF intercooler was so much bigger you don't need the frame because it's right up against the shutters. My guess is this is how the Injen is.

Any updates OP? Did you ever get your tune, and has this intercooler served you well the last 5+ years? Does it have a drain plug? Anyone else own this same intercooler who can speak on it, and how well it cools compared to the factory unit?
I'm considering buying one of these, but there's not much info on them on the web, which is why I'm bumping old thread. Back when TF&TF came out I was into imports, and Injen was big in the Honda seen for air intakes, etc. They were considered good intakes, and Injen was considered a quality brand.

Ive had the cvfab intercooler for about 2 yrs now.
it didnt come with a drain port and did kinda concern me but Ive not had any negative effects so far.
I had to remove the shroud extension to fit it in place, shudders stayed in place and fully functioning. No front plate to block or restrict airflow.
Have I noticed any difference in power?… not really. Have IAT’s changed? Probably… air gets hot when compressed and aluminum helps to dissipate it but continuous exposure to heat will heat soak it. With this being all aluminum is it better? No plastic… the plastic will eventually fail at the mating points, get brittle, crack…
The lower and/or uppers shudders continuously open/close To help avoid condensation build up, work with the A.S.S. System, and close completely while driving on the highway to maximize airflow for best mpg.
just my 2 cents…
