Default Injector Cleaning

It's been recommended by my dealership in the past but I never had it done. Has anyone over 50k miles had their injectors cleaned?

Do you burn quality Top Tier gas? If yes, I would not worry unless you have issues. If no, start. I'd be more worried about a throttle body cleaning personally.

Your dealership should not be recommending any services not recommended by Ford. Your manual shows you those services, and you won't find injector cleaning on them. A few years back, Ford sent all dealerships a letter and told them to stop recommending services not on the list. Clearly your dealer has chosen their profit over all else and ignored that letter and Ford policy.

I sent off the injectors from my 1995 SHO for modification a bit past 100,000 miles. Before the mod, they were tested, cleaned, then tested again. There was no flow or pattern improvement after cleaning.

If you use high tier gas at least periodically, and get the vehicle on the highway several times a year for extended light load cruising (at least an hour), injectors should never need a cleaning service.

Dealers recommend useless services all the time.

Run a tank of 93 shell through it every couple weeks, the cleaners in there are pretty solid.

I have never ever had an injector cleaned. From 12/1992 until today I have seen exactly one injector fail.

You do not need a cleaning.

Fuel injector cleaning or Fuel Induction Service? Big difference in the two and commonly mistaken between each other.

And you shouldn't get either if you've got turbos or catalytic converters.

Dealer scam. Whenever they recommend something to me that I didn’t ask for, I just ask them if it’s manufacturer recommended. If the answer is no.... nice try boys. Better luck with the next customer.
