I have a 2020 F150XLT. I have lost the Sync button and the Nav button. I've read the battery may be low but it checks 12.5 without engine running. any suggestions?

If it helps any, my SYNC3 started showing lost memory symptoms for a few weeks (very annoying). I performed the 3 different types of resets:
  1. Soft reset - no change
  2. Hard reset - no change
  3. Factory reset - lost the SYNC3 completely. All black. No radio, no NAV, no satellite radio, no backup camera, no USB charging, completely dead black screen.
Took it to my dealer where they confirmed customer complaints, diagnosed, and replaced the APIM. All good now. My 3 year warranty had just expired back in early March but I had the EZ Care extended warranty which covered essentially a near $1,000 repair and I paid $250 deductable out of pocket.

Just for the sake of saying it, I'll chime in here and say that replacing your APIM fixed a symptom of a software bug, it did not fix the root cause. I see it as the equivalent of buying a new computer because your current one has a virus. Sure, the solution works, but it never addressed the actual problem. That's no fault to you, of course, because the dealer diagnosis "flow chart" has next to no technical steps besides making sure Sync is up to date before moving to the "replace APIM" step, because they are mechanics after all, and not IT techs. If the software bug isn't fixed with a future update, you'll be back where you started after a period of time (that time unknown, could be 6 months, could be 6 years), and you might not have a warranty at that point. Understanding the cause and other available fixes is also important, because for those that have no warranty, having the dealer replace the APIM is an expensive step that can be fixed with free alternatives.

Can you elaborate more or post a picture of what you are missing? I'm having trouble understanding what you mean by "lost Sync and Nav buttons".
