Image processor calibration error?
98% of the time when shifting to reverse the camera display is very dim. Under warranty it was diagnosed as a bad image processor and it needed to be changed. Dealer got the new image processor in and installed, but it failed during automatic calibration. The dealer said there were all sorts of errors.
They said they have to place mats around the vehicle and manually calibrate it which will take three hours and I am down the truck for the day. Has anyone ever heard of this calibration before?

Definitely not 3 hours. I have a set of the mats and have calibrated my 360 cameras twice after changing ride height. Do you have 360 cameras? I haven't heard of a calibration for just the rear camera, but I will look it up tonight.
Alls I know is they are replacing the image processor in Hope's to fix the rear camera display issue. They said they successfully replaced it but the update or software for the image processor failed so now they have to calibrate manually with the mats.
The calibration mats are only used if you have 360 cameras or pro trailer backup assist. If you don't have either of those, there is no mat calibration and they are telling you stories.. Calibration with the mats takes me under an hour from start to finish, with the majority of the time spent rolling out the mats and rolling them back up.
