Ignition not responding to key insertion when cold starting
When getting into my truck for the first time in the morning. My truck will not respond to putting my keys into the ignition. (no accessory lights on the cluster, and no starting when turning the key cluster). My current solution is to remote start my truck from my phone and let it warm up. once its warm, the gauge cluster will respond to having the key in the ignition. It has to be something to do with the cold because the rest of the day it will start with the key, no problem. Any advice on trouble shooting the key ignition system?
There may be a U code set to offer a hint.
Need a Scanner that reads those codes because they are not engine system P codes.
What the key switch does communicate over a computer bus system to the Body Control Module that does the starter cranking.
Not like old times.
If it was not a separate computer operation, you would no be able to remote start through a different channel, from the on board Transceiver responding to your Fob request.
Good luck.
