Default Idle Trouble

So I am in the UP so the temps are cold so it makes sense, however my truck will not idle down to under 1000 rpms. I have remote started it and let it sit for 5 minutes in 40 degree weather. It still sits at just above 1000 rpms. Anybody know what’s going on or if it just takes a long time to warm up.

Welcome to the forum. We gonna need to know what you're driving at the very minimum. The more details you can provide, the better.

High Idle that does not come down to normal after sufficient engine heat is either a commanded more open Throttle Body position from a fault with the cooling system or throttle is stuck more open for some reason.
Cooling system:
Thermostat stuck open causing engine to run to cold. This causes commanded higher Idle and Richer Fuel Injection and additional air and some Ignition advance all = higher Idle.
Cylinder Head Temp Sensor fault.
A Vacuum leak allowing uncontrolled air (after) the Throttle body
.
Throttle Body plate gummed up and or needs cleaning and or a re-set done.
Or faulty Throttle Body.
.
Feel check the top Radiator hose for Heat from cold idle. It should get much hotter when Thermostat fully opens.
What is the cooling system Temp? should see 195*--210* +/-
Less than 195 is too cold for engine and control program under which it is under command.
Good luck.

I have a 2017 with the 2.7 so same gen engine and transmission as you. I live near detroit, even if it's 10F out my truck willidle down after just a couple minutes. Sometimes it will idle down sooner if I shift through the gears. I suspect it's something to do with a little load, but might just be programming. Something is up, you should investigate the things bluegrass mentioned.
