Through the firewall on the drivers side, next to the large round waterproof grommet. It's about the diameter of an antenna cable. Goes forward to the grille/radiator area, and passes into the cab to disappear under carpet at the driver's left foot.

In the image, at about 8 o'clock near the large round grommet.

You probably have it figured out by now, but if not, a simple test would be to have someone work the hood release lever repeatedly while you grip the cable. You should feel movement in the cable if it is in fact the hood release.
