Default Idea for a custom phone mount for top of dash

I bought a 2016 F150 last month and wanted a really clean way to mount my iPhone on top of the dash and still get wired Carplay without dangling wires. I designed this, 3D printed it and it's been working really well. I know there are other ways to mount these but I wanted something that included USB extension cables right in to an enclosure, as cleanly as possible.

I'm hoping to sanity check this design amongst other 2015-2020 F150 owners and get any feedback. Is this something others might want or is it not that useful? I designed it to accommodate up to three ball mounts.

Thank you!

I'd definitely categorize it as useful and desired.

Well, the Builtright industries one is aluminum and $49, so hopefully not much more than that.

OP, that looks pretty neat! Any plans to post or sell the STL?

Pretty slick idea! Very smart with getting USB up there.

I agree, if someone had this for sale when I started designing it, if it was $50 I'd pay that for sure because it would have saved me a bunch of time. I asked my brother what he would pay and he also said $50. My little brother has a 2018, so I'm going to make a couple tweaks to the design, ship him one and have him install it and give me some feedback on the design. If I were to sell the STL, what would be a fair price. What would be a fair price for just the printed part and what would be a fair price for the part+2 USB extension cables+RAM ball mounts included. You can of course just buy those off Amazon yourself but some people just like to get everything together without the fuss. Thanks guys!

Thank you! I love a really clean install. Of course newer vehicles have wireless carplay/android auto but I'm not getting a new F150 anytime soon!
