How to: Swap for OEM LED Taillights
#751
Ryan, I may have found something by accident that Ford changed for 2018... As we discussed a few months back, the C405 connector needed to be repinned on a 13A409 harness to make the LED taillamps work, and you needed to splice in a new terminal as it was a different size. I believe Ford may have changed the programming somewhere because I had a 2018 LED harness and the brake/turn signal wires were already in pins 8 and 16... I got that harness from someone else so I ordered another to verify that they did in fact make that change. If that's the case, the new harness is $45 and will make LED swap a direct plug and play, except for hyperflash. When I verify I will update here.

While I like the look of the LED lights, I probably won't do the mod. Mainly since I won't be able to see them when I'm driving the truck, and also since those that do see them will only be seeing the truck at night, meaning they won't see much except lights. They are beautiful though.

I am still waiting on the harness to arrive. There were only two in the country at the national depot so I hope I get them. I ordered both right away Odds are they will end up on backorder but we shall see!

Lights were $265 ea, connectors $22 ea, load resistors $16, figure $35 misc/plexi. All in about $625. I also did an OEM LED third for $75. So that was $700 total.
Minus $185 for my old lights = Total net cost of $515.00.
Smile on my face when I see my LED taillights = priceless.

However - yes, they do look good. But that price gets me a new Ping G400 driver plus change
